Mr Vegas receives Jamaica’s Order of Distinction

Mr Vegas has received Jamaica’s Order of Distinction in the rank of Officer. In its 21 October report, the Jamaica Observer said Governor General Patrick Allen presented the honour on Monday, 19 October. The recognition adds a national milestone to a career associated with songs including “Heads High” and “Bruk It Dung”. His emergence in the late 1990s helped establish a catalogue that reached audiences beyond Jamaica. The Observer’s retrospective also revisited his Billboard chart history and his 1999 MOBO award for Best Reggae Act. Together, those achievements provide context for an artist whose work has remained part of the international dancehall conversation for decades.
